Interior Ministry’s Directorate of Public Security has won a first in the short film contest on security awareness organized by the general secretariat of the Arab Interior Ministers’ Council in Algiers recently.

The event was held on the sidelines of the 36th Conference for Arab Police and Security Leaders.

The winning film entitled “The culture of social police — people’s support for security activities” was in the category of the television awareness messages.

Director General of Public Security Gen. Saeed Al-Qahtani, who led the Saudi delegation to the council, received the prize at a function in Algiers.

In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency, Al-Qahtani said the prize is the reflection of the Kingdom’s excellence in the field of public security thanks to the great support given by Interior Minister Prince Muhammad bin Naif to the strategy of preventing crimes through comprehensive awareness programs.

A team under Director of Media Relations of Public Security Brig. Adel Al-Shaleel produced the short film with the aim to create awareness among the people about the security in general and traffic regulations in particular. He said the contest is conducted annually. The topic of the short film is determined by the organizers even though the directorate prepares a number of short awareness films on different topics, he added.
