Immigration authorities at one of the Kingdom’s ports thwarted an attempt to smuggle in a 27-year-old man hiding under other passengers’ legs in a GMC Suburban vehicle.
An immigration officer noticed the driver’s restlessness when asked to open the back door. The driver claimed it wasn’t working. But the officer later found a man hiding after requesting an inspection of the vehicle as he noticed unusual movement inside.
Lt. Col. Maala Al-Otaibi, press spokesman at the Passport Department in the Eastern Province, confirmed that a man with no travel documents was arrested while attempting to enter the Kingdom surreptitiously.
Al-Otaibi said, “The man was handed over to security authorities in Salmi’s port in Kuwait after making sure that there were no security restrictions.”
“The car’s driver was handed to authorities to complete procedures for violating regulations,” he said.
