The Ministry of Interior’s Tawasul online service has published a report citing that there are currently 2,360 inmates of different nationalities detained by the Criminal Investigation Department.

The report highlights details of inmates, including their nationality, type of violation, residency number, the date of their arrest and the progress of their case.

The report showed that 236 people are being investigated, while 162 are being referred for prosecution.

Case documents of 130 inmates were transferred to the prosecution department, while 1,267 documents are being processed in court and 297 people have since been convicted but are eligible for appeal.

The department’s prisons have 190 convicts, 45 of whom are eligible for rehabilitation at the Muhammad bin Naif Center and 33 of whom are on the waiting list to be moved to the center.
