The father of an Iranian girl whose treatment in the Kingdom was ordered by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah has expressed his gratitude to the king for agreeing to treat his daughter Mary and for facilitating procedures for the family’s travel to Riyadh.

The father told the Saudi Press Agency that King Abdullah alleviated their anguish over their four-year-old daughter by approving her treatment at the King Faisal Specialist Hospital (KFSH) in Riyadh. He said his daughter suffers from a rare illness called basidiobolomycosis, a fungal infection, which mimics small intestinal and colonic tumors and which requires speedy treatment.

The KFSH’s medical team told the father that his daughter was showing signs of improvement following treatment.
