The police in Jeddah have arrested 11 thieves for stealing 18 cars and selling their parts.

First Lt. Nawaf Al-Bouq, spokesman of Jeddah police, said the criminals were young males between 14 and 18 years of age of African origin.

“Some of them are dependents of expats while others are undocumented. They explained to police officers how they committed the crimes, and their various roles which included watching out for security officers.”

Maj. Gen. Abdul Aziz Al-Souli, director of Makkah police, and Maj. Gen. Abdullah Al-Qahtani, director of police in Jeddah, have instructed security agents to determine whether the youngsters were involved in other crimes.

Meanwhile, a young Saudi who was held in a Tabuk detention center committed suicide on Wednesday. Security officers have launched a probe into the incident. He cut up the bed sheet inside the room and used it as a rope to end his life, according to reports quoting security sources.

A preliminary investigation report stated that the man was detained for a family related issue. His body was taken to Badae General Hospital where doctors confirmed his death.
