The three-day job fair at the Hilton hotel in Jeddah concluded on Thursday on a positive note with more than 5,000 job opportunities presented to the youth.

The fair witnessed a large turnout of Saudi youth and the participation of around 85 companies, mostly from the private sector.

Ahmed bin Abdul Wahab, director of the Technical and Vocational Training Council (TVTC) in Makkah, told Arab News that the job fair was a success, as it provided young job seekers with a platform to engage with various executives and company representatives.

The Ministry of Labor, Human Resources Development Fund (HRDF), King Abdulaziz University, the General Authority of Civil Aviation, the TVTC and the Council of Saudi Chambers, joined forces to organize the job fair.

“The large turnout of Saudi job seekers revealed the youth’s eagerness to work and learn various skills,” said bin Abdul Wahab, adding, “The youth’s participation will allow the Ministry of Labor to engage directly with this segment of the community and address their problems.

The job fair also provided the opportunity for a large number of companies to offer a host of job openings. Several hotels in Jeddah recruited Saudi women for administrative and accounting posts.”

He pointed out that the TVTC aims to rehabilitate national human resources through TVTC colleges and training institutes and build strategic partnerships with the private sector for the benefit of the Saudi youth.

“We want to establish a good relationship with the private sector by providing them with trained youth to empower them to find suitable jobs,” he said.

He indicated that around 5,137 job applications were filled out during the job fair, an indication of the level of success and confidence exhibited by job seekers, especially from the national cadres.

Such recruitment fairs, concluded bin Abdul Wahab, contribute toward supporting and strengthening resettlement policies in the private and public sectors and provide local talents with the opportunity to seek work in various sectors.
