The King Abdulaziz City For Science and Technology (KACST) has called for nominations for inventors and talent scientists to qualify for the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Awards 2014.

Mohammed Al-Suwaiyel, president of the Board of Trustees of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques’ Prize for Honoring Inventors and Talents and president of the King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST), made the announcement following their sixth meeting, chaired by Al-Suwaiyel, to honor inventors and talented individuals for the third consecutive year.

He said the nominations, which would commence from March 1, would end on June 30.

Al-Suwaiyel stated that the prize aims to encourage and appreciate distinguished inventors and talented individuals in the fields of science, technology, intellectual production, developing creativity, innovation and invention and to stimulate talents and capabilities, in addition to investing potentialities of society members.

He highlighted that the prize will be awarded annually to not more than ten male and female winners in the fields of science, technology and intellectual production for each category of inventors and talented individuals nominated through a special committee.

Al-Suwaiyel also said that each male and female winner would be awarded the King Abdulaziz medal as per the Saudi regulation for medals and merits, in addition to a cash prize for each of the first ten winners at an annual ceremony patronized by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques.

On receipt of the nominations, judges of the contest would begin from July 1 and would submit the results of the applications on Nov. 30. The finalists will be announced before the end of December, he said.
