The King Abdullah Bin Abdulaziz International Center for Interreligious and Intercultural Dialogue (KAICIID) in Vienna at its first meeting of the Board of Directors this year discussed several short-term and long-term plans to be adopted by the center in the areas of education, media, and building bridges of peace between adherents of different religions.

The board comprises members of various nationalities and religions.

In a statement on Wednesday, Board General Secretary Dr. Faisal bin Muammar said he presented to the directors the achievements of the center over the last year in the areas of development and the convergence between the followers of various religions.

The achievements included the enlarged international conference held in November last year on education in which over 500 persons including a wide range of senior religious leaders from across the world participated, and its impact on convergence between religions. The conference recommended improvements to curriculums to support the rapprochement process between followers of various religions in the world.

Bin Muammar also discussed the results of communications and programs of joint cooperation linking the center with UNESCO, the African Union and many religious and educational bodies in the world.

The center was founded in Vienna two years ago at the initiative of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah. Its uniqueness is that all religions are represented in its Board of Directors and its aim is to achieve convergence, international understanding and dissemination of the values of cooperation and peace.a
