Bahrain police found the body of Salem Aydah Al-Menhali, a Saudi citizen, wrapped in a blanket and abandoned in a tent in Al-Sukhair area.
His family said unidentified people had kidnapped him six days earlier and forced him to go to Manama, the capital of Bahrain. He was allegedly told to buy cars.
An official security source at the Interior Ministry of Bahrain said that the police station there received a missing persons report about Al-Menhali.
“His car was found at Sanad area, but a Bahraini citizen told the Southern Province police center that he found a body in a tent,” the official said, adding that members of his family had identified the body.
Forensic reports indicate a violent death, as the victim’s head suffered several blows with a hard object.
“Salem is a car dealer, he left Saudi Arabia a week ago with another person of Arab nationality to buy cars in Bahrain. This person is missing now,” said Omar Al-Menhali, a cousin of the dead man. He added that his cousin left the country with SR 450,000 on him. “Before his departure, he deposited SR 10,000 in a seller’s account,” he said.
Staff members of the hotel said that Salem left the hotel with the same group that brought him, and never came back.
