Crown Prince Salman, deputy premier and minister of defense, has emphasized the government’s keenness to support and encourage charitable projects based on the tradition of the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) and in compliance with Islamic teachings.
He said Prince Salman Center for Disability Research (PSCDR) represents one of the shining examples of that philosophy which the c enter reflects in its program to prevent disability through scientific research.
He said the effort is in line with King Abdullah’s personal direction and keenness to enable its citizens to have a healthy life in general and those who have disability in particular. Prince Sultan bin Salman, in his keynote address, said that it was not an easy task to convince people 20 years ago about the need to promote scientific research. It was even more difficult to seek their financial support.
Despite the hurdles, the Saudi government and its institutions have provided assistance. The business community and philanthropists, besides banks, also pitched in with their generous support. The new center was able to stand on its own and forge ahead, thanks to the support received from wider section of society.
