Well-known Saudi journalist Khaled bin Hamad Al-Malik, who is the editor in chief of Al-Jazirah Arabic newspaper, was honored during the recently concluded Arab Media Forum in Kuwait.

The award was in recognition of his valuable contributions toward journalism in the region.

Kuwaiti Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah presented the Media Creativity Award to Al-Malik during the opening session of the forum.

“They called his era as the golden era of journalism and the Al-Maliki era,” the prime minister said.

Sheikh Jaber said Al-Malik has served as editor in chief of Al-Jazirah for 45 years.

“This shows his pioneering role in Saudi and Arab journalism.”

Al-Malik has contributed to setting up one of the oldest electronic news websites. He helped train a number of Saudi journalists and writers.

Sheikh Jaber also honored editor in chief of the Kuwaiti Al-Anbaa daily Yusuf Al-Marzouq and Kuwaiti veteran sportscaster Khaled Al-Harban. He also honored Ali bin Tamim of UAE 24 online newspaper, Heba Mishari Hamada, a Kuwaiti female writer, Mones Al-Murri, chairman of the Bahraini Journalists Association, and Salaheddin Meawi, a Tunisian mediaperson.

The honored personalities also include KUNA’s Deputy Director General and Chief Editor Saad Al-Ali, Barakat Al-Wuqayyan, Tareq Al-Ali, Hessa Alloghani, Eida bin Issa, Mustafa Al-Agha, Ahmad Abdulmalek and Egypt daily newspaper Al-Youm7.
