The University of Baha has launched an investigation into allegations by students that a member of its medical sciences faculty has verbally abused them by calling them animals.

Saad Al-Huraiqi, rector of the university, has promised he would look into the claims, including allegations that the lecturer refuses to pass some students.

The students had gathered in front of the office of the rector demanding the dismissal of the person.

The rector, during a meeting with the students, also assured the bridge program students that he would assign an independent coordinator for them, so that they would not have to report to the person. The students also complained that the person threatened them and intentionally delayed their study schedule.

They also alleged that the person would often record discussions with students, and later change it to suit his own purposes. They claimed the lecturer often told them they should study at another university.

They said the course was difficult, and he had allegedly not given them textbooks and references.

The students also claimed that they had not passed the medical sciences course because the university does not recognize minimum pass marks that are accepted internationally.
