The Al-Abeer Medical Group has signed a service agreement with Spanish health care provider Medycsa to extend medical care to European employees working on the Haramain Railway project.

“We are honored to participate in a prestigious and iconic project such as the Haramain high-speed railway that connects Makkah and Madinah,” Al-Abeer’s chairman and managing director, Alungal Mohammed, told Arab News.

He said Al-Abeer had set up three advanced clinics in Makkah, Madinah and Rabigh and had readied 12 ambulances with ICU facilities to provide quality health care to more than 5,000 workers, including a large number of Spanish nationals. He underscored the group’s alliance with Medycsa, saying it is a recognition for its outstanding performance in the industry.

“We are proud to be selected by the Haramain Railway team and we consider this contract a form of appreciation from the European community to our quality service,” he said.

Mohammed said Al-Abeer would work hard to meet the Spanish consortium’s expectations by providing medical services to their workforce wherever it is called for. “I believe this is going to be an important platform for us to launch our medical services to the European community,” the Al-Abeer chief said.

He said that the prestigious contract would come into effect when the Jeddah-based group celebrates their 15th anniversary.

Medycsa provides health services to workers involved in various Spanish projects around the world, Mohammed said.

Al-Abeer’s five-year contract with Medycsa begins on March 1.

Al-Abeer’s CEO, Jabir Valiyakath, also underscored the landmark deal with the Spanish company, saying it paves a path to many opportunities in this sphere of infrastructure projects.

“We will try our best to provide quality health care beyond Medycsa’s expectations,” he added.

Al-Abeer’s Corporate Communication Department head, Emran, said: “Our staff and our well wishers are proud of our our team’s Spanish connection. This contract gives us a sensational breakthrough in our service drive. We are excited about the new opportunities and the new alliance.”

Spanish environmental, trade and commerce ministers have visited Al-Abeer’s clinics in the work sites of Haramain project and expressed their satisfaction of its medical facilities.

The ceremony at Park Hyatt was attended by General Manager Saeed Sullami, CFO Nabeel Aboo Gazzala, Project Director Samad, Operations Manager Saleem, Communications head Emran, legal advisor and insurance director Amal from Al-Abeer. Medycsa’s CFO Ignacio Garcia and other senior officials were also present.
