Madinah Gov. Prince Faisal bin Salman formally opened three exhibitions organized by the Madinah Culture and Arts Society at the province’s pavilion at the Janadriyah National Heritage and Culture Festival yesterday.
The society has organized three exhibitions: “Taibah in their Eyes," a photo exhibition called “The Beloved,” and a calligraphy show called, “The Inhabited World.”
The exhibitions come as Madinah celebrates its status as the Islamic Cultural Capital of the Year. The exhibitions evoke the city’s historical role in the service of various Islamic sciences besides stressing the city’s pioneering position as the capital of the Muslim culture.
Prince Faisal also inspected other sections at the Madinah pavilion.
While visiting the Madinah House at the pavilion, the prince listened to a brief description of the house and the significance of its architectural features.
The governor also commended the efforts of the organizers to highlight the distinctive cultural features of the province.
“Madinah province strives to preserve its distinguished position in the outstanding national display by reviving and diversifying its participation,” the prince wrote in the visitors register at the pavilion.
In another development, the organizing committee of the festival released a bulletin covering the topics as well as media coverage of the ongoing cultural and heritage events. The publication also carried a statement of Culture and Information Minister Abdul Aziz Khoja who expressed his happiness at the participation of the People's Republic of China as the guest of honor in the national festival.
“Participation of China in the national festival will enrich the festival from social, economic and cultural perspectives and provide the people in the Kingdom a closer view of the ancient Chinese civilization and its modern achievements,” Khoja said.
