MADINAH: Sheikh Abdul Aziz bin Saleh Street in Madinah, which links the southern square of the Prophet’s Mosque, hotels and parking for security, has returned to normal after authorities cleared the area following the terrorist bombing there on Monday.

Authorities thoroughly inspected the surrounding area and tightened security around the site of the incident and parking lot, while allowing pedestrian movement and setting up security barriers for the entry and exit of vehicles to the southern side of the Prophet’s Mosque. Only vehicles with permission were allowed to enter the area.

But normal movement has returned to the area, commercial shops and hotels along the street. During the incident, medical staff at Al-Safiyah Health Center for visitors of the Prophet’s Mosque and Umrah visitors mobilized and prepared to accept those injured at the site until 11 p.m. on Monday night.

The site where the attack took place is no more than 450 square meters and is surrounded by four streets, with hotels on the east and west sides, and empty land on the south side.

Sheikh Abdul Aziz bin Saleh Street falls on the north side, overlooking the Prophet’s Mosque, as well as the cemetery. The street is named after one of the imams of the Prophet’s Mosque and a former judge in Madinah.
