A citizen has filed a complaint to the Hail governorate against the Hail Public Hospital claiming that his new-born child has been exchanged for another one and that he wanted paternity proof through DNA testing to prove that the child was his.

A source in the Hail Public Hospital said that the father was given news of the birth of a son upon which he went to the hospital and checked on the health of the mother and the new-born infant.

However, after completing the discharge procedures the following day, he claims that he was handed a different baby which he refused to take saying it wasn’t his son.

Officials at the hospital tried to convince the father to take his son with him showing him the bracelet which proves his identity, but the father objected saying, “This isn’t the baby I saw yesterday,” and went to the governorate where he filed a complaint against the hospital demanding a DNA test to prove paternity.

The source said that the child was suspected to be suffering from Down's Syndrome and was referred to King Khaled Hospital for tests.

Majed Al-Maili, spokesman for the General Directorate of Health Affairs in Hail, confirmed that the citizen had filed a complaint with the Hail governor.

The governor has assigned a representative of the governorate and a representative from the health affairs department to investigate the man’s claims. The results will be announced soon.
