The Riyadh Criminal Court sentenced a man on Monday to 10 years in jail for treason.

The court found the man guilty of making "false statements, rebelling against the ruler, participating in demonstrations and protests against the state and using slogans that destabilize security."

He was convicted of buying and supplying medical supplies to persons injured during the demonstrations, for calling government officials "a mob" and accusing them of being "puppets of the Americans."

The court also found him guilty of having links to a person known for subversive attitudes and views, and who is connected to hostile television stations that encourage subversive acts. In addition, he kept silent about all these activities, the court found.

The sentence includes a 10-year international travel ban after he serves his jail term. The man can appeal the ruling within 30 days after receiving documented court confirmation of the sentence, the judge said.
