Police in Al-Baha have arrested an Arab expatriate in connection with the murder of a 50-year-old woman and her son, and ruled out the involvement of two citizens in the crime.

Col. Saad Saleh Trad, police media spokesman, said the man was arrested in the village of Al-Saidane on Sunday. He is in his thirties and travels to Jeddah to live with his father occasionally.

Trad said the police have a confession from the man and confiscated a handgun used in the crime.

The murder of the woman and her son took place in their home in Bani Harir Center on Sunday. Trad said the two citizens suspected of the crime, Ahmad Al-Zahrani and his uncle Idris, have been cleared of all suspicion.

Al-Zahrani, 23, a computer engineering student at Al-Baha Private College, said that the deceased was a fellow student and close friend.

He said journalists should not publish any information on a crime until they are sure of their facts.
