Jeddah police have arrested a man for allegedly murdering the illicit lover of his wife.

The story began when a Saudi national called the police saying that his Indonesian driver was dead in his room. The Saudi sponsor told the police that a "hysterical" Indonesian woman had informed him of the driver's death.

The caller said the victim was working as his personal driver and lived in a room under a building in Al-Nuzha neighborhood. The Saudi man said the woman who gave him the news was not wearing an abaya, and he assumed she was having an affair with the deceased.

A security team under the supervision of Maj. Gen. Abdulaziz Al-Sooly, Makkah police director, and Maj. Gen. Abdullah Al-Qahtani, Jeddah police director, was dispatched to the scene of the crime, where they found the dead man.

A medical examination showed that the man had wounds to his back, legs and head probably caused by someone striking him. The report concluded that he died of a brain hemorrhage.

The police discovered that the woman had been living in the Kingdom for the past seven years, but did not have legal residency. She admitted to having had a relationship with the driver.

During their investigation, the police found that the woman's husband had secretly followed his wife for a while and discovered she was seeing the driver in his room.





The husband waited for his chance and then killed the driver by banging his head against a wall, said First Lt. Nawaf Al-Bouq, spokesman of Jeddah police.
