Career planning is very important for the students of the 21st century. With this view, the Manarat International School for girls of grades 9-12 organized a Career Day to help students understand the importance of choosing the right career before they step into the real world.

Wafa Ashmawi, the school’s principal said that they had organized the Career Day to impart information to students about the importance of choosing a career.

“It’s the vision and mission of the Manarat School to provide information on careers and bring about role models which others would follow. We feel that students need to be aware of not just the curriculum but also about the real world because it is important that education and life skills go hand in hand,” she said.

She further said that the Career Day had been especially organized by the students where they had done research on different subjects and arranged stalls according to their interest and vocation in life.

“It is important to have extra-curricular activities in schools as students learn better when they are having fun,” she said adding that extra-curricular activities enhance the talent and skills of the students.

Ashmawi said that because of the availability of vast amounts of information, it is important for teachers and parents to guide children to choose subjects they are interested in and for which they have the skills.

She also said that many Saudi universities had also participated in the Career Day with information to help students choose what they would like to do in the future.

Saher Sultan, the project in-charge said that the purpose of the event was to involve the students in the decision-making process and help them to research the opportunities available to them.
