Dr. Mohammed Umer Chapra, noted scholar, author, economist, and recipient of the King Faisal Award, appreciated the work of the Memon Welfare Society at a recent get-together.

Addressing participants of the function, he said the society has been rendering admirable welfare services to the community since its inception almost six years ago.

Chapra, who was the guest of honor, said MWS deserves to be congratulated for holding value-added events. He extended his best wishes to the society and advised it to continue working for noble causes.

The function, which was attended by more than 500 members of the community, also included the election of MWS office-bearers for 2014 -2015.

Mansoor Shivani, acting president of MWS, welcomed Chapra and the participants to the event while Tayyab Moosani, general secretary, introduced the guest of honor and senior community members who have made valuable contributions.

Moosani also presented a brief about the welfare programs and activities of MWS, and announced the formation of a Youth and Sports Wing which will be sponsored by Iqbal Advani.

Chapra and senior members of the community were honored and awarded gifts as a token of appreciation. An Islamic Quiz Show was also held during the event in which 125 gifts and prizes were distributed to the winners.

Younus Habib, vice president of MWS, thanked the community members for their support, assistance and participation. He thanked the sponsors of the event and the MWS board members.
