The Ministry of Health has fined a pharmacy owner SR25,000 and shut down the pharmacy for a period of 60 days due to a lack of licensed staff at the pharmacy.

The pharmacist has been referred to the Health Practitioners’ Commission for further punitive action.

The ministry also adopted a decision by the medical committee to fine another pharmacy owner SR50,000 and close down the pharmacy for 60 days due to expiry of the pharmacy’s work permit and for allowing pharmacists to work before acquiring a license.

The Ministry of Health confirmed that it will take regulatory procedures, including the precautionary closure of any health institution, not committed to meeting quality and health standards.
