JEDDAH: Saudi Arabia’s air defense system has destroyed a ballistic missile fired from Yemen on Saturday, security sources said.
The missile, launched by the Houthi militia who control large parts of the country, including Sanaa, was intercepted over the airspace of the frontier province of Najran.
Meanwhile, sources informed the Civil Defense in Jazan that missiles were fired from Yemen territory, hitting a civilian home, injuring a child.
Saudi-led coalition jets struck Al-Qaeda positions in southern Yemen on Saturday killing several militants, as government forces appeared set on a new offensive, military officials said.
Two airstrikes targeted Al-Qaeda militants gathered on the outskirts of Jaar town in Abyan province, killing and wounding several militants, officials said.
Meanwhile, suspected Daesh militants killed a Sunni cleric in Aden on Saturday, a security official said.
A gunman stepped out of a car after dawn and shot dead Ali Abdulrahman Al-Zahri in Mansura district, as he emerged from a mosque, the official said.
