The Ministry of Labor has worked out a set of 14 conditions for Saudis seeking the 12-month unemployment allowance, which will be implemented next month.

A ministry source said that after the approval of the application by the Human Resources Fund, the beneficiary will receive SR1,500 a month for the first four months, followed by SR1,250 a month for the next four months. The beneficiary will get SR1,000 per month for the remaining four months of the year.

The Human Resources Fund will extend the unemployment allowance only to Saudis who have made serious attempts at finding a job.

Applicants for the financial assistance will have to be a Saudi national, or the son of a Saudi woman married to a non-Saudi and he should be a permanent resident of the Kingdom for a period not less than 10 months prior to submitting the application, unless he is studying aboard in which case he will have to submit an attested certificate.

Among other conditions are the applicant should be more than 20 years of age, but less than 60 years, should not be employed and should not be enjoying retirement benefits or any other kind of financial entitlement.

The applicant should not be a student or trainee in any training program, is not involved in any kind of commercial activity and should not have access to a fixed income of any kind.
