The 2nd edition of the Mother and Child Exhibition kicked off in Jeddah on Wednesday. It was organized by the Ministry of Health with the cooperation of national and international companies dealing in children’s products.

The four-day exhibition focusing on love, care and the relationship between mother and child was inaugurated by Maha Ahmed Fitaihi, wife of labor minister in the presence of Saleh Attia, consul general of the Republic of Algeria, Haya Senaidi, Sheikh Saleh bin Ali Al-Turki, CEO of Reed Exhibitions, and Sheikh Mohammed Fadl, former board of directors of Jeddah Chamber of Commerce at the Jeddah Center for Forums and Events.

Fitaihi expressed her joy at the organization of the exhibition with the participation of multinational companies and experts focusing on the health and relationship of the mother and child to raise awareness among the parents in the community.

“The mother carries the onus of the responsibility of raising the next generation which will contribute to the construction and development of the country,” she said.

Fitaihi also said that they are trying to spread the importance of the mother-child relationship to the schools and appealed to the Ministry of Education to pay more attention to such important issues. “We also aim to educate mothers on the methods of modern education in line with the requirements of the times through seminars, forums and courses,” she added.

Saleh Attia, echoing Fitaihi’s sentiments, said that the exhibition is an opportunity to educate mothers on the requirements and challenges of child care as they have the responsibility of bringing up the next generation and to build the future of the nation.

A number of families turned up at the exhibition on Thursday and lauded the efforts of the organizers in trying to bring children closer to their parents and families through interaction with children’s experts of various departments including the field of education.

Several special events were organized on Thursday which attracted almost 2000 children who participated in many activities and contests. Notable among them was the ‘Small Chef’ where children could show off their talents in the culinary arts, decoration and etiquette.

Additional events include lectures by a number of doctors, consultants and psychiatric specialists. The exhibition also has on display products of famous brands, clinics, family, health education, entertainment, a cooking competition and SpongeBob Square Pants.

On Saturday there will be a special show of ‘Jo Frost’ nanny superstar and Super Nanny.
