The field teams of Najran municipality are continuing inspection campaigns on foodstuff facilities to make sure of their compliance with health and safety requirements.

The director of the comprehensive control department at Najran Municipality, Abdul Ali Al-Makrumi, said the team members carried out 625 campaigns during which they detected more than 7 tons of expired foodstuff, meats, vegetables, fishes, juices, honey, pickles and cheese, unfit for human consumption.

All the confiscated food stuffs were destroyed and deterrent fines imposed on the violators. In addition, 18 shops were closed for various violations such as poor hygiene conditions, insects on the premises, bad odors, lack of adherence to health requirements, absence of health certificates for workers, dress code and other violations concerning food utensils.
