Eastern Province Gov. Prince Saud bin Naif will inaugurate a ceremony to launch a new application called “Tariqi,” Arabic for “my journey,” in the Eastern Province today.

Fahd Al-Jubair, mayor of the Eastern Province Municipality, and Jamal Al-Mulhim, his deputy for development and projects, said that the company that will implement the service will be present at the ceremony.

The application would be the first of its kind in the Middle East and will be implemented by the municipality to provide coverage to roads, streets and major sightseeing attractions in the province.

The navigation program can be installed on smartphone devices and will include information about traffic congestion on various roads to help citizens avoid congested areas and government agencies effectively manage traffic.

Al-Jubair said “the application will significantly contribute to identifying congestion zones and determining travel times. The app will be available for download in both Arabic and English and will provide users with continuous updates on traffic.”
