The Labor Ministry will announce a new mechanism to rectify individual labor status and change of profession in the coming two weeks following the directives of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah to give a grace period of three months for all those in violation, a local newspaper reported.

An official at the Labor Ministry said more than 200,000 foreign workers in violation were deported during the last campaign. Meanwhile, national employment programs resulted in the employment of 400,000 Saudis in the various work sectors. "No sector will be exempt from the rectifying process once the grace period is over", the official said.

Pointing to the Cabinet decision that stipulates that foreign workers work only with their sponsors, he said: "The decision aims to prevent concealment and to provide more job opportunities to Saudi youth."

As for the fees imposed on firms and companies over the Saudization process, he said: "All institutions are subject to these fees if the percentage of Saudis working there is less than 50 percent of the total."

But, he said, the decision is not applicable to the husband and children of a Saudi woman married to a foreigner. "They will be counted within the Saudization percentage if the documents were submitted", he added, arguing that a period of 13 weeks should pass before accounting for the Saudization percentage in the social insurance program in order to fight false Saudization claims.
