Police find out, return runaway girl to family

JEDDAH: The police in Jeddah found a runaway girl after 17 days. A news website reported that she had gone missing after she took a taxi on one of Jeddah's roads.
The mother of the girl said that the police found the girl on Friday after 17 days. She said that her daughter was fine and healthy, and was not harmed. The mother also thanked the police for their efforts in finding her daughter and returning her home.
The website said in its report that the girl indicated that she ran away because of family disputes which resulted in a separation between her parents. She is now kept in a care home in Jeddah. After investigation she will be handed over to her family.
The police launched an intensive search soon after she was reported missing in Jeddah. She had left all her belongings at home.
The mother has lodged a complaint at the university police station. She said she came to know that there were several similar complaints about girls running away from their homes in similar circumstances. The mother expressed concerns that these girls could fall into the hands of criminals. Those found involved in misguiding these girls should also be punished.
