Rekaaz, a nongovernmental organization, is planning to present a show at a mall at Exit 14 in Riyadh to promote sound moral values among Saudi youth between the ages of 15 and 25.

“Rekaaz has chosen this year’s theme as forgiveness,” said a spokesman for the group.

He said that members of the group in the capital will invite Saudi teenagers and their parents, in addition to other community members who might be interested in attending.

“Guests will enjoy the show,” he said. “A well-known Saudi will be present on the occasion to sing some of his own songs.”

“Forgiveness among family members and friends will also be discussed,” he said. “There is no doubt that you feel immense happiness when you forgive someone who has wronged you.”

Over the past four years, Rekaaz’s themes include promoting respect for mothers, developing self-esteem, instilling a desire to succeed in life in the youth and inducing a sense of responsibility toward society.

The group plans to invite Muhammed Al-Awadi, a doctoral degree holder from Kuwait, as a speaker on forgiveness, and Ibrahim Al-Nakhib from Jeddah to sing some of his songs.

“In the past, we had invited Faisal Abut Thnain, a member of the Al-Hilal Club, to talk about friendship, Rekaaz’s theme for that year,” he said. “He was effective because, as a soccer player, he had shown sportsmanship, which is inextricably linked with friendship.”

Rekaaz had also invited Mohammed Al-Alarifi, who spoke about the good and the bad that friendship can encompass.

“We are looking forward to the show because it’s one way for us to give something to the country,” he said. “We raise our own funds through the sale of CDs from the campaign, which Rekaaz has undertaken in propagating its message of good will among the youth.”

“We all work as volunteers, receiving nothing except the ineffable happiness we derive from doing something good for the youth and, by extension, our country,” he said.

Rekaaz also has counterparts in other key cities of the Kingdom, which have held shows in Jeddah, Dammam Yanbu, Taif and Abha.

Rekaaz was formed six years ago by Ahmed Asiri, a school administrator in Jeddah.
