Firefighters managed to extinguish a fire in an old house in Baghdadia district east of Madinah Road Wednesday morning.

No one was reported injured in the fire over an area of 80 square meters.

Six Civil Defense teams supported by four units with water trucks and mechanized ladders were sent out after reports of clouds of smoke in the area, a Civil Defense statement said.

The rescue teams prevented the fire from spreading to nearby houses. An investigating team discovered that the fire broke out in an area with highly flammable substances.

Director of Operations Col. Ghazi Al-Ghamdi directed the firefighting operations.

In another incident on Wednesday morning, the Civil Defense rushed to downtown Andalus district where the 50-sqm roof of a three-storey building under construction collapsed. No one was injured because workers were not present at the site.

The Civil Defense also directed the municipality to inspect the location and submit a technical report specifying the cause of the collapse.
