Prisoners at Riyadh’s Hair jail were involved in a riot that was suppressed without any casualties, according to an official source.

The source at the Bureau of Investigation and Public Prosecution told the Saudi Press Agency: “No one was hurt in the incident although damage was caused to some property and the rioting was limited only to a few inmates.”

According to the source, the process of assessing the damage has been completed and the perpetrators are under investigation.

The source said if anybody has any complaint or feedback about the condition of inmates in various prisons across the Kingdom, he should approach the bureau.

He added: “The bureau will investigate it and take appropriate measures. The bureau is tasked with supervising and monitoring all prisons and detention centers, including those under the General Investigation Directorate.”
