The National Water Company (NWC) has said that over 207 projects costing over SR9.6 billion are being implemented in Jeddah.

In a statement, the NWC said the company has been striving to implement projects for the development of infrastructure in Jeddah, including the implementation of water, sewage and domestic connections in residential neighborhoods.

The company said that 76 ongoing projects worth SR7.144 million that were grounded in 2013 and 131 fresh projects costing more than SR2.5 billion are expected to be completed this year.

Early this year, Loay Al-Musallam, CEO of the NWC, said the company was targeting projects worth SR36 billion in the next five years to continue to improve services provided by the water and environmental systems in Riyadh, Jeddah, Makkah and Taif, all of which are supervised by the NWC.

Considered to be the most prominent project, the NWC is implementing major sanitation lines in the north of Jeddah at present. In addition, it is also implementing sub-networks, household connections and sewage in the districts of Al-Rawda, Al-Faisaliah and the beach lengths of approximately 174 km.

The company explained that it is also currently working on the second phase of strategic storage establishment in the Breman area with a capacity of one million cubic meters at a cost of over SR375 million. The number of water tanks in the third phase of strategic storage establishment in Al-Faisaliah district will take the total storage capacity to one million cubic meters at a cost of over SR452 million.

The NWC is also working on the implementation of sewage networks in Al-Hamra, Mashrafa, Al-Aziziya and Al-Andalus districts.
