A three-story building in Jeddah's Balad area collapsed on Sunday, underscoring concerns over aging structures that have been left unattended in the Kingdom's former capital.

Civil Defense Department personnel said they were still looking for survivors under the wreckage of the collapsed structure.

The building is located along Bab Sharif street near Bin Mahfooz mosque.

A number of old buildings in Jeddah have collapsed over the past years. Two women were killed in May 2010 when a four-story structure on Al-Madaris Street in Sharafiyyah district suddenly caved in.
