The Pakistani community in Riyadh, in three separate condolence meetings on Thursday, condemned the brutal killing of Chaudhry Aslam, senior superintendent of police, who died in a suicide attack orchestrated by the Taleban in Karachi.

Shocked members of the community condemned the inhuman killing, and asserted that their country had lost a great son who was committed to wiping out terror from the country.

A suicide bomber rammed into Aslam’s convoy, killing the top cop and two other policemen including Iqbal Mehmood, a senior officer with the criminal investigation department.

Aslam had been receiving threats from the Pakistani Taleban, which tried to kill him in September 2011, in a huge explosion that tore off the front portion of his house in a smart area of the city. Following the attack, he had made a defiant appearance before the media, saying: “I will give my life but I won’t bow down to terrorists.”

The first condolence meeting was organized by PML-N led by its President Dir. Saeed Wainse, the second by PPP-Riyadh region under its SVP-PPP Saudi Arabia, Abdul Karim Khan, while the third meeting was held by the Pakistan Writers Club (PWC), organized by its General Secretary Ashiq Hussain.

At the meeting organized by PML-N, Dr. Saeed Ahmed Wainse, Choudhry Faryad Ahmed, Choudhry Ashiq Hussain, Dr. Mahmud Bajwa, Javed Akhter Javed, Atlas Khan, Choudhry Mubin, Amin Tajir, Ehsan Danish, Rashid Mahmood Butt, Asghar Chishty, and Muhammed Nasir spoke on the occasion.

At the condolence sitting organized by the PPP-Riyadh region, the speakers who expressed their grief included Abdul Karim Khan, Sardar Sher Afzal, Rana Khalid, Waseem Sajid, Yunus Abu Ghalib, Farman Saleem, Rao Tahir, Riaz Rathore and Malik Faqir.

Pakistan Writers Club and its Ladies Chapter also held a separate condolence session, in which Ashiq Hussain, Warda Qurashi, Sanobar Sani, Shahjahan Sherazi, HM Fayyaz, Liaqat Anjum, Syed Khawaja Nehaluddin, Aymen Zaheer, Dr. Erum Qalbani, Asma Tariq, Ambreen Faiz, Reem Al-Qurashi, Qundeel Aymen, Shaheen Javed and Farah Ehsan, participated.

All three condolence meetings paid rich tributes to the bravery of SSP Aslam. They were unanimous in their view that men like Aslam are born in a century. “Aslam did not surrender before the terrorists but laid down his life for the country. He should be honored with the highest award of bravery by the government,” they said.
