The Pakistani community yesterday celebrated their national day in the Kingdom. On the occasion of the 73rd Pakistan Day, nationals marked the celebrations by reaffirming their commitment to the development and progress of the country.

The day started with flag-hoisting ceremonies held simultaneously at the Embassy of Pakistan in Riyadh and at the residence of the Consul General in Jeddah.

Speaking on the occasion that was attended by a large number of prominent officials and nationals, Muhammad Naeem Khan, ambassador of Pakistan, emphasized the country’s growing influence and great contributions in maintaining peace and security in the world.

“As a front-line state in the fight against terror, we have paid a heavy price in terms of loss of precious lives and billions of dollars to the economy. Thousands of our innocent people and valiant soldiers have lost their lives for a noble cause. This has only made us more determined and resolute. Pakistan is also one of the largest contributors to the United Nations’ Peacekeeping Force for the maintenance of peace and security around the globe.

Khan seized the opportunity to also emphasize the special relationship between Pakistan and the Kingdom, which are based on solid foundations of Islamic heritage and shared perceptions on many important national and international issues.

He highlighted that Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah, Crown Prince Salman and the entire royal family are held in high esteem in Pakistan.

Meanwhile in Jeddah, the Consul General, Aftab Ahmad Khokher, addressed the crowd of attendees with words of solidarity.

“On the auspicious occasion of the National Day of Pakistan, I would like to tell my community to stay united on all platforms. If we want a stable Pakistan, we need to forget our differences and commit to living together in unity,” he said.

Furthermore he reminded his fellow countrymen how 73 years ago, Muslims of South Asia decided to establish an independent state in which they could lead their lives in accordance with the Islamic ideals of freedom, sovereignty, democracy, equality, justice and tolerance.

He said that everyone acknowledges the valuable contributions of the vibrant and dynamic Pakistan community in Saudi Arabia.

“Our community has served both Pakistan and Saudi Arabia with characteristic fervor, loyalty, commitment, diligence and dedication. It is, in fact, the most unmistakable link between our two countries.”

Afshan Aftab Khokhar, the consul general’s wife, also delivered an empowering message ti Pakistani ladies, emphasizing the need to play a significant role in the progress and development of their country.

Students from the Pakistani international school sang patriotic songs, reviving the spirit of patriotism and displaying their commitment to serve their country’s prosperity and sovereignty.
