Sami Badawoud, Jeddah health director, announced that a tripartite committee involving the Police and Health Departments as well as the Civil Defense was formed to investigate the source of the insecticide, which caused the death of a Palestinian women and her daughter.

The two victims allegedly died due to inhaling insecticide, which leaked from their neighbor’s apartment, Jeddah’s Al-Hamrah district. 

The deceased’s other family members, namely her husband and two sons, were transferred to King Fahd Hospital for medical attention and their health condition has been declared stable. 

Doctors at the hospital initially believed the family suffered from food poisoning, but after tests were carried out they were diagnosed with chemical poisoning. 

Inhaling insecticides can cause fainting, diarrhea, vomiting and lead to death in some instances.
