The parents of several girls attending a private school have filed a complaint with a human rights organization against the school principal, who had ordered a teacher to detain the girls due to non-payment of school fees.

Abd Ar Rahman Al-Qurashi said the complaint will make the teacher realize that laws exist to punish transgressors. “Admonishment is not the only way to handle problems. Things could have been solved more amicably,” he said.

Adel Ath Thubaiti, a representative of the National Society for Human Rights, said that the society had received the complaint filed by the parents against the school.

“The complaint has been referred to the headquarters in Makkah for further action. We need to make people more aware of their rights,” he said.
