The Philippine Embassy has stepped up efforts to help undocumented Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) leave the Kingdom or correct their status before the Nov. 3 deadline.

Ambassador Ezzedin H. Tago called on Prince Khaled bin Bandar, governor of Riyadh last Wednesday to seek his help regarding the difficulties facing undocumented OFWs, including the admission of undocumented females and their processing at the Saudi Social Welfare Authority (SSWA).

Tago expressed gratitude on behalf of his expatriate nationals for the extension of the grace period, adding that thousands of Filipinos have benefited from the amnesty.

“At least 2,221 Filipinos from Riyadh alone as of Oct. 6 have been repatriated on tickets shouldered by the Philippine government in addition to those who left on their own expense,” he said.

He also made representations for a mechanism for males who no longer have their original residence permits or passports and are not registered on the fingerprint database.
