Philippine international schools in Riyadh and the Eastern Province demonstrated their skills and talent in art and history in the “Art and Literacy Competition” sponsored by the Philippine Embassy in Muscat recently.

Ambassador Ezzedin H. Tago congratulated the winners. The theme was “Art as Reality: Young Lives in Transition.”

The International Philippine Embassy School in Alkhobar (IPSA) romped off with seven major prizes. In the art category at elementary level, it grabbed four out of five major prizes.

The winners included Julian Beatriz P. Yamsuan, first place; Amielle Audree M. Abella, second place; Ma. Sophia de Leon Andaya, first honorable mention, and Reginald C. Mallare, second honorable mention.

Diana Mae R. Utang placed first among high schools students. In the literacy category at elementary level, Nathan Kyle E. de Leon and Jullien Rose Y. Co were awarded the second and third prizes, respectively.

Al-Andalus International School (AAIS) won two prizes. Allyanna Therese A. Infante, a grade six pupil, finished third in the art category at the elementary level while Minnete Genevieve A. Ola, grade 10, won the second honorable mention in the same category for high school students.

Al-Taj International School of Riyadh (ATIS) won two prizes. Robert Jed B. Merjilla, grade two, won second honorable mention in the literacy category for elementary level while Pamela Joy C. Locsin, third year student, placed third in the art category for high school students.

Vaughn Bryner G. Tan, fourth year student at International Philippine School in Riyadh (IPSR), was awarded first honorable mention in the literacy category for high schools. Stiffany Jamia C. Azin won the first honorable mention in the literacy category for high school.
