The General Court in Riyadh has stopped accepting court claims, which are delivered manually. Plaintiffs are now required to register their claims electronically through the court’s website prior to going to court.

Ahmed Al-Shahrani, deputy director of the claims department, said the court switched to electronic services in compliance with the directives of the court’s president in order to facilitate procedures.

Citizens can now access the ministry’s website on the Internet to electronically register a claim site by imputing their complete information as well as that of the defendant, and whether the individual is an agent or a lawyer, he said. After submitting the claim, the applicant will receive a claim number for use in court.

Al-Shahrani, explained that the claim number would enable the court official to audit the claim statement and decide whether the matter concerns the General Court, the Administrative Court or the Partial Court. He added that the claim is accordingly referred to the office of the judge concerned in the General Court to set a date for the case.

For individuals with special needs, Al-Shahrani said, the court has provided four machines dedicated to those who cannot use the computer.







They will be installed soon. Designated staff will also be available to assist and guide citizens, he added.
