The Police Department has announced that it arrested 11 Bangladesh nationals for gambling in Taif and recovered a sum of SR21,388 as part of its ongoing drive against crime.

“The workers were caught red-handed while they were gambling in a building in Television Street in Taif.

The security patrol forces raided the site after receiving a tip off and arrested 11 persons involved in gambling with a net sum of SR21,388,” said a police statement.

“The police also found four knives at the spot,” informed the police spokesperson for the Makkah region, Dr. Athe Al-Quraishi. He added that after receiving a tip from a member of the public, Taif Police chief Maj. Gen. Abdullah Al-Suhaimi formed a team to arrest the offenders.

The accused were referred to the Bureau of Investigation and Prosecution for further proceedings.
