Police have arrested a wanted man who had robbed several shops in the capital in the past few weeks.

“The suspect, a Saudi in his twenties, had burgled several shops in the city wearing a face mask to conceal his identity,” a police officer said, adding that he has since confessed to his criminal activities.

Following his arrest, the police found that the car, a Hyundai Sonata which the suspect had been using, was also a stolen vehicle.

It was revealed that the suspect had only stolen cash and telephone pre-paid cards from these shops.

The police in the East of Riyadh spotted the accused at a check point, but he managed to escape in his vehicle. Security authorities, however, nabbed him subsequently. The accused will be produced before a court for sentencing.
