A security officer belonging to the drug enforcement agency was killed and eight policemen were injured during a gunbattle with a drug smuggler in Aflaj, 320 km south of Riyadh, sabq.org reported on Monday.

The criminals, according to the online newspaper, torched four security vehicles.

Police have arrested two of the smuggler’s accomplices. One of the two was injured in the leg and was admitted to hospital.

Zaid Al-Hussein, the chief administrator of Aflaj, visited the injured police officers at the hospital and enquired about their health.
