The Supreme Judicial Council has approved a decision stipulating the obligatory presence of a public prosecutor in juvenile hearings. The decision was taken at its eighth session, which was held in Riyadh under the chairmanship of Justice Minister Mohammed Al-Issa.

The council ordered judges to comply with the new regulations before issuing rulings against both male and female juveniles.

Salman Al-Nashwan, secretary-general of the Supreme Judicial Council, said the council also issued other decisions related to reports being issued from judicial inspection committees, as well decisions related to jurisdiction rules and powers granted to the heads of courts and their assistants.

The council approved a study, which was conducted by the General Directorate for Planning and Development, to amend training procedures on enforcement mechanisms.
