Prince Muhammad bin Naif, assistant minister of interior for security affairs, yesterday sent a message of condolences to Interior Minister Prince Ahmed on the death of Prince Naif, on behalf of security officers across the country.
Prince Muhammad, who is the son of the late prince, congratulated Prince Ahmed on his new appointment, saying he is a good successor to his good predecessor. "You were the right-hand man of Prince Naif as you accompanied him during his successful career."
He wished Prince Ahmed success.
Prince Turki bin Muhammad, undersecretary at the Foreign Ministry for international relations, underscored Prince Naif's contributions to the Kingdom's development and strengthening its security.
"We were all shocked hearing the death of Prince Naif who had played a big role in strengthening the Kingdom's security systems and fighting terrorism," he said.
"Prince Naif was a strong believer. He stood for truth and opposed false and faced challenges with courage," Prince Turki said.
The Taiwanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs yesterday sent a message of condolences on the death of Prince Naif. "Prince Naif devoted his life to combating terrorism and maintaining peace in the Middle East. He actively promoted Saudi Arabia's modernization. He enjoyed strong support among the Saudi Arabian people and was well respected in the international community," the message said.
Prince Naif made significant contributions to the cordial relations between Taiwan and Saudi Arabia, the message said. "Prince Naif led a delegation to Taiwan in July 1979, and was a close friend of our country," it added.
"The government of the Republic of China (Taiwan) is confident that under the steady leadership of King Abdullah, Saudi Arabia will continue to prosper and the substantive relations between our two countries will be further consolidated," it said.
