Riyadh Gov. Prince Khaled bin Bandar has ordered an investigation into an incident at the National Heritage and Cultural Festival at Janadriyah involving members of the National Guard and an official of the Commission for Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice on festival grounds.

“Prince Khaled has set up a committee under the chairmanship of the undersecretary for security affairs at the Riyadh governorate and with members from the National Guard, the Haia, the Bureau of Investigation and Public Prosecution and Riyadh police to investigate the issue.

“The first committee meeting was held on Saturday,” a spokesman at the Riyadh governorate said in a statement to the Saudi Press Agency yesterday.

Spokesman of the festival Col. Khaled Al-Moqbel said on Saturday that the Haia member was an administrative official and did not have any field duty at the festival. He added that he posted incorrect information and photos about festival activities in the media.
