It was a tragic Thursday for several families as at least 10 people, including two Indian professors, were killed in six different accidents in the Kingdom.

Two professors from King Khaled University were killed in a road accident in Abha city.

Professor Jameel, hailing from Maharashtra, and Professor Shaikh Karimullah from Andhra Pradesh, who were working at the Al-Namas campus of King Khaled University, died on the spot when their car hit a road divider on Thursday evening.

The two were on their way to Abha to take a bus to Makkah to meet Jameel’s brother who had arrived from India to perform Umrah.

Shaikh Karimullah joined him since he also wanted to perform Umrah, Shaikh Mastan, a family friend, told Arab News.

Tragically, Shaikh Karimullah’s wife is expected to arrive on Saturday from India to see her husband.

The grief-stricken Jameel’s brother is also making efforts to travel to Abha.

In another accident on the same day in the Eastern Province, a Qatari family of three members was crushed to death in Nariya, when a water tanker rammed into their car from the rear, said Traffic Police Director Col. Fahad Haqbani.

In the third road tragedy, Mohammed Sayeed Fakhie, an Egyptian and his two children died on the spot while his wife is in a critical condition in hospital.

The family, residing in Qatar, was returning home after performing Umrah when their car was involved in an accident in Onaizah in Qassim Province last week.

The wife, who regained consciousness on Thursday, has not been informed about the tragedy. In two different accidents near the Grand Mosque in central Makkah, one person was killed and another was critically injured. The injured was shifted to Noor Specialty Hospital for treatment.

In another accident on the same day, one person was killed and three others were injured critically when two cars were involved in a collision in Saifa area of Abha.
