Prince Salman Center for Disability Research (PSCDR) announced recently its preparations to host the 4th International Conference on Disability Rehabilitation this year.

Prince Sultan bin Salman, president of PSCRD’s board of trustees, said that the conference will be one of the largest scientific and research gathering in Saudi Arabia and the Gulf region in the field of disability.

The conference will bring together experts from all over the world with special expertise in medical and scientific development in the provision of care and services.

“Their expertise will raise the performance level of those with disabilities and facilitate their integration in the community as part of the development process,” Prince Sultan added.

Sultan Al-Sedairy, PSCDR’s executive director, presented an overview of the major developments that the center has achieved and the objectives of the learning difficulties’ program.

He pointed out that learning difficulties are classified as one of the hidden disabilities faced by many communities. In addition, learning disabilities may be the reason behind the functional disorders involving the central system — a condition that results in the continuous decline in the academic achievement of pupils.

In another development, the center received a donation worth SR1 million during the meeting, which was allocated to a program dedicated for children with learning difficulties.

Fawaz Abdurahman Al-Qusaibi, one of the center’s founding members, donated the amount to serve the PSCDR’s cause toward this category of the Saudi society.

Prince Sultan bin Salman praised Al-Qusaibi’s efforts and his humanitarian service for the society and for individuals with special needs in particular. He emphasized that such support reflects the real embodiment of social responsibility, partnership and cooperation between the community and this center.
