ABHA: Analysts have described Saturday’s royal decrees as restructuring in conformity with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030. The merging of the Ministries of Labor and Social Affairs confirms the enlightened side of Vision 2030.

The Ministry of Labor is interested in labor and recruitment issues and is linked to poor and low-income people. This falls within the Social Affairs Ministry’s area of expertise, and the merging of these two ministries will have a significant role in tackling poverty and addressing the problems of low-income people.

These decisions are clearly the first operational steps of Vision 2030 that Saudi Arabia as a nation is looking forward to.

Political analyst Louay Tayyar pointed out that the vision includes restructuring the Cabinet and integrating ministries. We have seen this in many European countries which have pumped fresh blood into government agencies by means of new appointments.

Tayyar said that this recycling is a healthy process which involves the interest of the homeland and its citizens and serves the Vision 2030. It encompasses the creation of multiple agencies, restructuring and merging ministries — all of which will certainly have a positive impact on the nation with everyone giving all they can to serve the nation.

A professor of political science at King Abdul Aziz University, Waheed Hamza Hashim, also said that all the decisions for restructuring and integration of some ministries were spot-on. We are on the verge of a new era requiring rapid decision-making and making effective decisions that achieve the maximum benefit for the lowest cost at a time that requires limiting unnecessary spending on projects and avoiding wasting public funds. We must re-evaluate the past conditions in a social, political and economic framework in order to achieve comprehensive development and what is in the best interests of the homeland.

Hashim said that this change was healthy. "We cannot say that the change is a road map for Vision 2030 but rather a strategic mechanism to achieve the goals and interests included in the vision, and make it become real with all necessary logistical and material requirements," he said.

He said that he expected more supportive decisions as they require the development of strategies and the activation of all available sources, as well as the recruitment of national forces in order to achieve and serve Vision 2030.
